Bogi​ ​ponga​l is the first day of pongal thirunal- celebrated to welcome new thoughts and discard old ones
Thai pongal​ is the second day -celebrated on the first day of Thai month also called Thai thirunal to thank mother nature and other living things
On this day of Pongal ​festival rice of the harvested paddy is boiled in a new pot with sugar, milk and ghee.
Mattu ponga​l is the third day of festival ,we worship and thank the cattle
Cattle are washed and decorated on this day
Jallikattu Bull fight is practiced on this day
Kaanum Pongal​ is the fourth and last day of pongal festival
On this Day we visit relatives and friends and seek blessings from elders
This day is also known as thiruvalluvar day in remembrance of historic and great tamil poet Thiruvalluvar
